Portugal manager Roberto Martinez is set to announce his Euro 2024 squad on May 21, 2024. The 26 player list should not include many surprises but the squad can have some notable omissions due to injuries. Left back Raphael Guerreiro will miss the tournament due to injury, while Pedro Neto and Diogo Jota have recently returned from injuries and may not be at peak form.
The tournament is set to commence on June 18 for Portugal who open their group campaign against Czechia followed by games against Turkey on June 22 and Georgia on June 26. Portugal will play three friendlies before the tournament starts over a span of eight days. Portugal will face Finland (June 4), Croatia (June 8) and Ireland (June 11) in tune ups.
The 26 man Portugal Euro 2024 roster could look something like this:
Keepers
Diogo Costa (FC Porto), Rui Patricio (Roma), Jose Sa (Wolverhampton)
Defenders
Joao Cancelo (Barcelona), Nelson Semedo (Wolverhampton), Diogo Dalot (Manchester United), Nuno Mendes (PSG), Ruben Dias (Man City), Pepe (FC Porto), Goncalo Inacio (Sporting), Antonio Silva (Benfica), Danilo (PSG)
Midfielders
Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Vitinha (PSG), Joao Palhinha (Fulham), Otavio (Al-Nassr), Joao Neves (Benfica), Matheus Nunes (Manchester City), Ruben Neves (Al-Hilal)
Forwards
Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nassr), Goncalo Ramos (PSG), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City), Joao Felix (Barcelona), Diogo Jota (Liverpool), Rafael Leao (AC Milan), Trincao (Sporting)
These players are all on the bubble and have a chance of being called up but will more then likely be on the outside looking in when the squad is announced:
Pedro Goncalves (Sporting), Pedro Neto (Wolverhampton), Florentino (Benfica), Joao Mario (FC Porto), Ricardo Horta (Braga), Bruma (Braga), Francisco Conceicao (FC Porto), Toti Gomes (Wolverhampton) and Beto (Everton).
We will find out Portugal’s Euro 2024 squad this week and then we can let the debating begin but we added our part to Predicting Portugal’s Euro Squad.
